Now outside tap working, I am planning to connect garden hose on the tap.

The hose is on the reel, very old about 15 years old, but no connectors whatsoever.

Can it be just connected to the tap straight, maybe with a jubliee clip on it? Or does it need some kind of fittings between the hose end the tap end?

If garden tap is new & threaded, get a threaded tap connector,(competitor £1.50p);), will allow you to use universal quick connectors.

I went out to the garden and had a quick look at the hose.
The hose is hozelock professional, and short hose has push fit clip on type connectors both end. One end of the hose clip on to the reel, which has about 25m long hose, and spary gun type nozzle at the other end. The other end is to connect to the tap.

I tried to connect the smaller hose to the tap using the clip on coupler, but it doesnt fit to the tap.

The above connectors will allow the connection to the hozelock coupler? Thanks.

Post photo's of what you have,I presume garden tap is a new one, then it should be threaded 1/2" BSP, if older type garden tap, outside chance it's 3/4" BSP thread.

Tap connector I mentioned will work with plastic or brass quick connectors.

Unscrew the connector you have now and fit one like KIAB showed.

What is the middle one for in the brass set? The thin and longish one?
Sorry but we have not used outside tap for last 15 years since the outside tap kit seized up - the one with green hose and screw bites into the main water pipe making a hole on it.

Thats me fitted proper one by myself 2 days ago, but in the process almost risked flood in kitchen and no mains water in the sink tap miraculously saved by Pegler tee asvised by KIAB and dobbies.

Havent been to the shop last night. Rained a lot, and we were told water company will do maintenance work today all day, so will be no water until night.

It''s self-centering hose nozzle, turn barrel for various jet & spray pattern & off.

Make sure ½" female connector on hose, tap end & ½" connector with water stop other end of hose.:)

That's cool. Thanks for your info.

Went out tonight, and got them. Really nice brass devices heavy and classy.
Was thinking they could be put in our new corner display unit instead being in the garden :)

Connected the old hose for the first time in many years to the new outside tap using the new brass connector, and voila, water shot out with superb full pressure.
    This is what we needed.

It was too dark, and rain was pouring down, so just left at that.
Tomorrow, will connect the rest, and play with it :)

    cheers mate.

Isn't it just typical? Ya spend ages getting info on fittings for hose etc, to water the garden. Then the heavens open, and your next post will be "how do I stop my garden being waterlogged." :D

Yeah, the lawn and plants get plenty water off the heavenly rain these days :) no worries there.

But the new outside tap is for cleaning the scaffolding caked in mud and rotten leaves lying at the corner of the garden, washing the bird droppings on the patio, washing the window frames, wellies and cars, and driveway, paths... etc. And scaring off the cats :D
