Not sure if this is the right place to ask but got myself a problem. I own a property which if I ever finish putting it back together I will move into. The property is empty due to works ongoing but now I am at a point where things are to go back in- heating system, bathroom, kitchen etc which means I need insurance to cover such items incase of theft while the property is empty. I soon realised many insurance companies demand the property is lived in for cover. Any advice on what to do (cannot live there yet) or suggest somewhere to get such contents cover. Thought I had cracked it but the company involved said they had to cover the building aswell which is already covered. Thanks
When my father died i had to do a lot of work in his house prior to selling. I told the insurance company i was "doing it up" and they said as long as the property was not unattended for long periods, ie: i was making regular visits the would continue his insurance with a change of name. Many landlords have unnocupied properties and have cover on them. Also you could have it insured without contents cover as the expensive items, boiler etc will be cover under buildings insurance as they are fixtures.
If you really do need specialised insurance, there are companies out there who'll do it. Try asking on the Builders' Forum.
When my father died, I became very, very, very, very wealthy which is why I'm here on this pc all the time.
You're kidding, he left me an amazing £2k but I've blown most of it on some bet reccomended by a geezer here to do with some football team winning the chartshow or summink (or recommended or reccommended or recomended).
If only I'd known, I could have put you onto one of 'sooyars surefire certainties'. Never mind, give us a shout when your mother kicks the bucket and I'll see what I can do for you, anything for a mate, that's me.
