Just out of interest blokes, is there a convention of which side hot & cold taps should be fitted? Visited the father in law at the weekend......Don't ask! :( He lives in a 60s house & the cold taps were on the left, with the hot on the right. In our 70s built house, it is the opposite. Is there a right or wrong convention ?

Usually cold on right...that's how I do it.

Hot left, cold right, is the norm, this is so blind people don't accidentally burn themselves.

My folks house has cold on left in bathroom, cold on right in kitchen! All the plumbing was renewed in the 70's at the same time so perhaps the dimwit plumber was trying to cater for all walks of life :D

Thanks for your replies blokes. As I said the question was purely out of interest, but you have confirmed my thoughts, that hot on the left & cold on the right is the norm. :)
