Cooker hood ducting kits: is it enough if diameter matches?

We are replacing our visor cooker/extractor hood. There are a million models, options etc. And then I need to make sure I can get the right ducting kit.

It would be easier to choose the hood if I knew that whatever hood I go for, I can always find the right ducting kit, as long as the diameter matches.

But is that the case with most hood manufacturers? Is it simply enough if diameter matches, or is there more to it?

Match the diameter, or bigger, keep bends to a minimum, avoid using the flexible tube with the spiral wire support as it catches grease and dust and restricts air flow. Allow the pipe run to fall slightly to the outlet to allow condensation to drain to outside.
