AUDI apart from e-bay is there anywhere you can get a roberts jamb cutter looked everywhere ....... cheers chili
audi do the nails that you so often find at the foot of the jamb destroy the roberts blades does it kick back hard when it hits a nail
handman, i havent done that yet but ive done the other in the same position, the electric cables big flash and bang, it messes up the blades something chronic at the same time the tool stops working and the lights go out as well thats the crazy modern world we live in
mostly goes through nails no probs, occasionally (if you are dropping the power when you catch a nail) it kicks. Buy from carpet suppliers "floorwise" if you are in north east i can get you one. If elsewhere just go to local floorwise tell them you are a fitter for any local flooring shop (just make it up) and they will sell you one.
I am in north tyneside. Floorwise have a branch in birtley, if you want a doorjamb cutter i could prob arrange for you to buy from them.
Fein bimetal blades are cheap here packs of 3 http://www.mtmc.co.uk/prodtype.asp?PTID=16691&strPageHistory=cat
chilli i have a small flooring compay so i'm not a joiner i'm a floor fitter, carpets/vinyl/laminate/hardwood. (and soon to be ceramic) So yes i do specialise in fitting wood floors, but as far as joinery goes i'm just a keen diy-er like many others on here.
AUDI EVO.... im a distribution co-ordinator for a large haulage company very keen diy-er would like to become a joiner.. Thanks for youre help with my problem on the floor im going back tommorow to finish off so wish me luck ........!!!!!!!!!!
Chilli, flooring is an ideal way into joinery work. It is quite straight forward so you can turn out a good job easily and it can lead to other work Customers will always ask for other work, rehang doors, skirting etc. I can't be bothered but one of my fitters picks up all sorts from staircase spindles to decking to kitchens and he has no joinery qualifications at all he is just keen and is very particular about the work he turns out. when he takes on a new type of job he acceptd that the first time he does it he will end up with a low rate of pay because he spends more time on it than a joiner would but he sees it as a learning curve and he will be quicker next time. And yes good luck tomorrow!
audi this is my first so called customer job ive done all the work in my house ie doors floors skirting dado rail architreve , ive also done work for family and friends and gained a bit of experience.. funny you should mention customers wanting other jobs they have already asked me back to do the dining room floor and skirting ... thanks again Lee.. oh and i have the inlaws foor too do ;0)
Inlaws oh joy of joys, so that will be £1-50p per hour, work guaranteed for 25 years and a list of extras as long as your arm, i love working for family!
