    Hi

I need to plasterboard a workshop ceiling. Ceiling is 6400mm x 4700mm, and there are 38mm trusses at 600 centres.

    Probably silly questions, but:

I assume I should sheet so that the gyproc is "lengthways", so that the long edges catch at the truss centres - correct? That would mean two sheets would almost fit side by side.

And do I need noggins or battens on the plasterboard edges?

5-minute drawing attached....red squares are the gyproc.

    Many thanks

    Jim

  2. Run the boards the other way.
Fit 2x2 noggins down the sides, centre of boards and edge of boards so boards lap onto the noggins to do it properly.

Boards the other way, bound edge always across the joists

Did garage in last house and used 3x6ft board to make it lighter.

If you use 15mm thickness plasterboards you won’t have to fix noggins at the edges of the boards.

You may be better hiring a plasterboard lifter, that will make things a lot easier.
