I need to ask advice from professionals. I have a builder laying laminate flooring at the moment, he has finished one room but left the expansion gap visible as it’s not been fitted under the skirting. The gap is the correct size but he was just going to leave it like that with the underlay exposed.I asked about finishing with silicone, trim or similar and he said that’s an extra job (more money) I’m buying the materials & just paying for flooring to be done. I think the finish is part of laying the floor in the quote. Am I wrong to dispute?
Fitting flooring trim/beading should have absolutely been part of the job and is not an extra, assuming that the fitter knew skirting was already fitted?
Builder is a con merchant. Fitting trim is a must. He knew that. Dont pay him 100% of money. Keep 20% back if he complains. He should fit the moulding as part of the job.
Thanks for advice.I’ve not paid anything yet, as I bought materials. He also hasn’t put in thresholds in the doorways either which I’ve always had done as part of the job before.
