    Hi all,

I’m in the process of stripping out and renovating our bathroom.
I’ve removed tile and scraped off the old adhesive from one of the solid walls in the bathroom and found that there are hairline cracks in the plasterwork that clearly follow the lines of the block work underneath the plaster.

How is it best to deal with this? Should I :
    1. V carve the cracks and fill.
    2. Above followed by a skim coat (the walls aren’t pretty anyway).
    3. Overboard and skim?
    4. Other...

My concern for skimming without overboarding is that the cracks will reappear, but I’m no pro, so I’d like to take some advice please.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Mark

Overboard in tile backer board. Dont need to skim if you are tiling.

I won’t be retiling this wall. It’ll be painted. The bathroom was previously 100% tile, I’m only doing the areas that need it.

Pay slightly more and board in moisture resistant board.

Can use dot and dab. Then have skimmed by plasterer.
