I use a bowsaw, blades £2.50 a time. As the blades start to go you can use a pair of side cutters and bend the teeth back out, so you can get a lot of cuts out of one blade. One guy who worked for me bought a masonary saw for about £80, first day he dropped a block on it and broke the handle. I'll stick with bowsaws, but always keep spare blades.
I use an ordinary hardpoint saw to cut Durox System 500 blocks. Any saw will become blunt very quickly and need resetting occasionally but that only takes a few minutes. It is essential to cut the blocks square and so I made up an oversize mitre block. Damp blocks are a lot harder to cut than dry ones.
