Deck joist tape - should I use when doubling up beams & generally?

I've read mixed reviews online on deck joist tape but not huge amounts on forums recently so thought I'd ask the question; do people use it and if so what product to they recommend? Seems it could cost a bomb!

I first starting thinking it could be useful since i'm planning to double up the beams and figured there's more of a possibility that water could get in between the two lengths of timber and not easily get out.

Using 47mm x 100mm timbers and garden is generally very damp / in the shade, if that's of any use as context.

I have never heard of it, I would say its a gimmick tbh.
I sort of get the principal of it.
If you want to protect your double beam staple a length of 150mm wide dpc or it.

The rule of long lasting deck club is airflow, airflow, airflow so if youre in a dark damp spot bear that in mind when you build it, keep the sides open as possible for air flow, dig out the ground if need be.
