Hi I've got a dewalt keyless chuck where the bits are slipping so need to change the chuck. I've removed the centre screw and have been trying to remove the chuck using the Allen key and hammer method, however no matter how much I try I cannot get it to release and am worried that its going to destroy the drill.

I've heard that one way is to stick it in a freezer overnight and then give it a little heat before doing the Allen key method again.

Does this really work as I don't want to knacker the drill if it's been stuck in a freezer.

All and any advice is welcomed

    Bill

I think it is a left hand tread use Allen key and hit with hammer you need to shock it

Yes I have and I know they can be a pain to release. But surely you shouldn't have to beat the thing to death to get the thing off.
