DIY "Built In" Shelving

    I have turned my massively oversized stair bulkhead in to a couple of steps, the lower of which will be seating and the upper I want to build some shelving for and have it fit flush to the wall

    I was going to build it out of Plywood but with prices rising and the worry of crappy quality Ply (won't be paying for birch on my first project! ) so I think I will sway towards MDF instead

    Because of this I have amended my plans slightly to incorporate so supporting dividers for fear of bowing shelves with a lot of magazines on

    Few questions really;

    is 18mm MDF / Moisture Resistant MDF suitable for this?

    Would I be better off using a dado or simply have supporting pine below each shelf (12x32 possibly) as I will be doing this exclusively with a track saw (no router)

    Would you have it built right up to the coving then cove round it, have the coving but up against it and have it right up to the ceiling or stop short and cove behind it?
