I'm putting in 5 down lights. Due to the ceiling joists layout it's a bit tricky to loop in / out of all of the fittings. Can I have a sort of "hybrid" arrangement as follows? Down lights 1 and 2 would have their own cables. Units 3, 4 & 5 would be looped in / out. Will be using appropriate push fit wago connectors with correct number of ways. Is this an acceptable way of doing this? Cheers.
That is fine and you could even change teh 3, 4, 5 for a Wago box where te right angle is. If you have access, then cheaper to use J804 juction boxes.
I'd use 1mm t and e, easier to connect the downlights. Terry good one Edit, ignore me you put 1.5m not 1.5mm
Wait,,, I need to supply it with electricity as well?? Could I bring the feed to #4 and then push a junction box up through the hole?
Ha indeed I mean to bring a feed into a junction box near #4 and then feed #3 and #5 from that junction box. Isn't this a bit like having a spur off a spur? Then again, I guess it's no different to looping in / out of the actual fittings?
As long as every fitting gets a live and neutral it doesn't really matter which way around you route the cable. You could have one junction box ,in theory, with 5 cables, one to each lamp, connected to the supply cable. Having an MF JB large enough to accommodate all the connections may be a challenge.
