Hi, any advice on the next steps to add a door frame, architraves & get an internal door fitted. Any tips, order of steps would be much appreciated. Thanks, Bob.

Aside from ‘get a carpenter’……..

Measure opening height, and the opening width off the plastered part of the wall where the light switch is, to the brickwork the other side. Select a door lining set that’s the correct door width and depth of the wall (probably 5 1/4”), select correct door to fit the lining, and get roughly 6.5m of architrave and what looks like two 25mm quadrant beads to be fitted on the lining jamb that’s tight to the wall.

If there is plenty of clearance in the opening to accommodate the door lining then you may find it easier to assemble the lining on the floor, tack on the doorstops set back from the edge where the door closes by 35mm, then drop the door in to rest on the stops and mark the hinge positions on both door and lining. Disassemble the hinge side of the lining and mark round a hinge following the line you just marked and using a hammer and chisel, chop out hinge recesses. Do the same for the door. Then either fit the lining plumb and hang the door to it or fit the door to the frame first then lift it in as one complete unit and fix to the brickwork.

Once the door margins are correct and you're happy with how it sits, fit the handles and latches, alter the doorstops if required then finish off with architrave both sides and the quadrants down the tight side.
