My living room door handle when turned does not pull back the latch in order for the door to open. Is this the spindle at fault or will I need a new latch and is it easy to get replacements rather than replacing the whole door handle.

    Please advise.

If it doesn't turn it at all it could be as simple as the spindle being too short to reach into both handles properly. If that's the case, just stick something into the handles to stop the spindle going in too far or get a longer spindle.

More than likely the latch is worn. Just get a new one, couple of quid.

Someone cut the spindle short when fitting it and it has moved out of location, fit a new spindle.
