    Hi,
Question from a novice. I'm moving a washing machine into a utility room and want to know if its ok to connect the washing machine drainage into a rainwater pipe outside or does it have to be seperate from this and connect to the other sink wastes in the house.

    Hope this makes sense.
    Thanks

    Hi Chasmoid,
If its a relatively new house then the answer must be a definitive NO.
On houses that have a combined Rainwater and sewage system, then you could probably do it. To find out if your house has a combined system, you would need to lift the manhole cover off, and pour water down the rainwater pipe to prove this is in your favor. But if water only passes when an existing Loo or sink is used then you won't be able to use it.
So you would then need to run it as you originally said.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Mr Mystery. It's an older house and I had a closer look like you said. Turns out the drains are combined so can connect in like I said.

    Thanks again
