I have a Bette pressed steel bath, I need to drill a hole out for a single lever bath tap, Anyone done this before? what's the best type of hole saw to use? I'm a little worried about the enamel on top of the steel

Decent bi-metal holesaw with cutting compound. Or good quality hss bits and a good jigsaw with a metal cutting blade be carefull!

I either order them pre-drilled or take it to a tame engineer I know

Cheers for the info, I'll not be using the Jigga on this occasion! the hole saw seems viable though, still worried about the enamel chipping. I have some spray enamel that I use to repair chips in baths, so gonna spray the cut edge with that too, sound OK?

See if you can get hold of a scrap bath to practice on

Captain, I had a guy lined up to do the work but he's gone AWOL so i'm forced to do it myself. Never needed to do one before.

Not a bad idea actually, there's always scrap baths outside merchants, cheers

I'll give U one tip bathy lad!

Make sure U drill a pilot hole same size as the holesaw arbor bit.

Then when U use the holesaw go in reverse until you're through the enamel and have scored the steel, then change to forward gear!

    Stops the chipping etc!
