Hi all, Does anyone know of a supplier for reasonably priced inspection pit for earth rods? SF ones are 25 quid, seems a lot for a plastic box! I don't normally use them but thought I ought to start doing things properly!(also might be using this job for annual assessment) Im have used Wiska boxes in the past, they look quite neat.
I wish I could use this method many a time but it does not work for domestics unfortuantly which is where I do all my work.
Why can't you use that method then Wally? That's more or less the way I do it and mines mainly domestic.
Main issue is, its where people live and most of them aint too happy about having a Gweis Box (however well hidden) stuck to an outside wall. Commercial and industrial no probs
The main issue sen is that with that method the earth stake goes straight down from the box, on domestics there are footings so it is not uncommon for the earth stake to be at least 1 ft out from the wall
True Wally, the footings do tend to be a problem but in that case I usually whack a short length of 3x2 timber in and secure the box to that, another method i've used is to put a short length of 100mm soil pipe around the rod and put a small paving stone on top if it's in a garden/soil area, anything to make it accessible really, nic have never commented at assessment's.
We do it like This ........................................... If I did it, it would done like this..the sticker would be more strategically placed though. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4009/4330604090_ebe4fb7754b.jpg
