I was in a house today boxing in some pipework and noticed that they have an electric shower above the the bath. The wiring for this runs down from the ceiling and is covered with plastic conduit, snap on. Is this legal, I suggested to the owner to get it checked out.

FAQ on here. Loads of differences in opinion.

    Here's the low down.

    Cable size 10mm2 6242Y (10.0mm2 T&E)
45A or 50A pull-cord switch on ceiling or 45A DP switch on wall outside bathroom/shower room. (50A if 10.5kW shower)
    30mA RCD on circuit
40A/50A mcb on circuit. (50A if 10.5kW shower).

The cable can be chased in to the wall OR siurface mounted in trunking or conduit, as appropriate.

Point to note. The vast majority of "problems" are caused by this kind of query. You see a cable installed in trunking and think " that doesn't look right to me" so you query it.

    My question. Why?
