Hi I have an outside light that used to be PIR but now just on/off the cable at the light entry is the following Brown Black Grey Earth the cables behind faceplate are the following Brown Brown Blue Grey (Blue Sleeve) Black (Brown Sleeve) Earth Earth I’m struggling to wire the switch it’s got Com L1 L2 ports can anyone explain how to wire switch so my on / off light now works
What changes have you made (did you remove the PIR and what did you do with the wiring)? Pictures would definitely help.
I know, I know we all love a picture. move scratched my head some more looked at some other sockets and seem to have solved it. so I’ve just changed the outside light from a sensor to just a standard light controlled by the same on off switch. (Annoying how it keeps coming on when a cat walks past) anyway, the supply cable to the switch (brown, earth, neutral) I’ve put the brown live into the com port of the switch. Blue into a blank terminal and earth on earth post the other cable that goes from switch to light I’ve wired the the brown live into the L1 port on the switch. The blue neutral into the supply blue neutral blank terminal, earth onto the earth post. And the extra black cable is blanked off separately both behind switch and in behind outside light backing. hope it all makes sense? So basically, the earths are together, neutrals together and the browns together just broken by the switch. And the spare black cable completely blanked off. And it works, surely if it’s wired wrong it’ll just trip?
