    Electrician conversion training – becoming a TV Electrician in High End TV Drama

    Location: Mainly Cardiff area – TBC
    Contract: 3 weeks
    Training Allowance: £500 per week

    This is a rare opportunity for a qualified electrician (apprenticeship – AM2/relevant qualification, 17THEdition and IEE wiring regulations, Inspection and Testing, City & Guilds parts 2 & 3, City and Guilds 2356 Electrotechnical Services NVQ or equivalent) to receive additional concise training in all aspects of television electrical and lighting practices. The successful candidates will receive on the job training on locations that may be throughout Wales as well as spending time with a TV and Lighting Facility Company.

    The successful candidates will get a unique chance to learn a new set of skills in the specialised field of HETV Production Electrics and Lighting by experienced staff. You will be paid a training allowance plus reasonable expenses for the duration of the course whilst the training cost will be covered by Sgil Cymru.

    Your Health and Safety training will include:
    • Manual Handling
    • Production Safety
    • Risk Awareness
    • Safe Working with Cameras and Lights
    • Working at Height
    Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for this opportunity:
    • Have a passion for television and other forms of broadcasting
    • Successfully completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent training in electrical work and got your City and Guilds Level 2 & 3 or equivalent in an appropriate electrical subject and have passed the 17th Edition
    • Have a knowledge of new technologies available in TV or live entertainment lighting is desirable, but not essential
    • Excellent written and communication skills and be computer literate
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Flexibility – you will need to work early mornings, late evenings and weekends, at short notice, drive to locations and stay away from base
    • Demonstrate levels of motivation and drive
    • Ability to learn new skills and working practices
    • Understanding of Electricity at Work legislation
