Engineer - So define it!

Charlie,
Glad you think there may be possibilities. I'm not really up to speed on the technology myself but think with a little research it may be viable. Have a quick look at www.rswww.com and search for 291-1306, this gives a good insight into how it works. I'm just finishing my last shift and wont be back until 4th or 5th of June but will look a bit deeper into the subject when I return.
Happy holidays!

I think I can just about call myself an engineer in my field- Air Conditioning and refrigeration.

Most "Engineers" in this field have but a few years experience and a few product training courses under their belt.
I managed to scrape a C&G in electrical and electronic engineering and a HNC in refrigeration which is fairly high in my field of engineering-ahem.
Not particularly high quallies on the grand scheme of things but i feel i can genuinely call myself a proper airconditioning engineer!
My job covers installation, design, repairs, fault finding, servicing and maintenance.

Come on chaps and chapesses, the time has come to "out" the engineer.

1. An engineer can be a builder, plumber, electrician but not so sure a painter.

2. Engineers are not interior designers, colour technicians or telephone sanitisers.

3. Engineers think in 3D and use their rear view mirror when driving.

4. Engineers are allowed to make mistakes, but only once and always learn from them.

5. Engineers live for logic and form long lasting friendships with other engineers.

6. Engineers fix things after the design fails.

7. Engineers KNOW what a bodge up really is.

Are great lovers and can take constructive criticism.

Wow Amen..... could`nt put it beeter if i tryed, especially point 6, thats what i spend most of my time doing !!

point 1 is wrong.
1. An engineer can be a builder, plumber, electrician but not so sure a painter.
An engineer can be a builder, plumber, electrician & painter but a builder, plumber, electrician & painter may never be an engineer.
An engineer can visualise a problem from start to finish and solve each part before doing anything.
He can't understand why things he considers natural should be so hard for others to comprehend.
He didn't train to be an engineer. He was born with the ability to think in 3d.
No matter what, he can think of many alternative ways, some easier & some harder but he will not rest til he has discovered the best way.
