Only just seen this thread. A good few years ago we made some vol-au-vents for a church social event (not that we were members or anything) and as a little joke I made a batch of nice-looking chicken ones that had a very good dose of chili flakes in. It was a bit mean, but quite funny watching people sampling them.... For those with a higher threshold, they were really tasty!

Yes, a "what are you cooking" forum would be quite fun, but I guess the mods have enough to do policing the forums there are already to keep the trolls at bay....

  3. I've never been any good at growing chillies, got toms and herbs and a bit of rhubarb to produce results but never chillies, so I buy them. Probably end of the year I may eventually sort out a new growing spec and try again.

What is te trick with rhubarb - I love it but have real problems growing it. Most other fruit & veg I try seems fine, just not rhubarb.

We couldn't stop it! It came with the garden and was still in the garden when we left. It was nice and sweet when properly cooked. Only problem I had was finding pie dishes two feet long by two inches wide...

I don't see why one can't be provided, it can't be a bigger waste than the apprentice forum, or screwfix select, or the eco forum etc, at least it's an interest shared by lots on here, whoever said Screwchef forum earlier in the thread (I think it was ElecCEng) hit the nail on the head, great name.

  14. Depends on the soil and the spot you have, if you get one going like Willy has, it can get out of hand so you need to eat a lot of it.
I had one for a few years at the side of a shed, good soil and drainage but after the last crop it died off, got another young one n a massive pot for now, seems to be doing ok for now. The hard part is getting the soil right, some people are just lucky, things are jut right for it to take off.
