She who must be obeyed has come up with the idea of having downlights in the soffits of our single storey extension.

Any recommendations for a suitable fitting?? Soffits are uPVC so generated heat could be a consideration......

    i'd agree with reggie
i've just done this for a customer and installed 'cheap' megamans at £3.50 each, instant light not really an issue and added bonus of cool lamp and fitting not discolouring upvc soffit.

the absolute easiest method for doing this is called "divorce"

saves you even having to get out of bed then

Have some of these at mine and have put led Gu10 bulbs in. Although they cost about £6 easch they only consume 1 watt so don't run away if left on all night. Obviously the light ouput is limited but they look good

agree with betty and reggie but!
put 8 GU10 IP65 3watt leds in a garage sofit two years ago
but find now they are just starting to show signs of rust

To avoid the rust you can spray paint the fittings with stove paint this then prevents corrosion. I use forest heat resistant spray.
