Probably a simple answer but I'm seeking confirmation. Soon starting a refurb of a loft bedroom and ensuite. Bang in the middle of a wall is a hideous ply flap giving access to the heating header tank. There have been many previous alterations done to the house, 1 of which was fitting an invented cylinder. Quite why, the heating side is still gravity fed is a mystery. Anyway, is it a simple enough task doing away with the F&E rank and fitting an expansion vessel instead? I'm hoping for a positive reply because it means that once I've finished plastering, there will no longer be an access panel spoiling the wall. Thanks in advance.
Depends on the boiler installed and if it is suitable for being used on a sealed system, most are though it still needs checking. Also you will need a pressure relief valve along with the expansion vessel.
