Faulty hot water cartridge

Hi all,

I was after some advice if possible.

I have three mixer taps upstairs in my house.

One in the ensuite where the flow of hot water has reduced.

In the main bathroom I have two. There is one single mixer tap where the hit water flows fine.
There is also a mixer tap on the bath with two handles, the hot water flows badly. All other hot taps in the house are fine.

I have asked this same question on Facebook and someone suggested it could be the cartridge within the tap.

So my questions are this:

1. Is this a possible cause?
2. I've googles the cartridges and seen a few videos. For my bath mixer tap with two handles it looks as though I can change the individual cartridge in each handle but what would I need in the mixer with one handle?
3. Is there any other possible problem that could be causing this issue?

Thanks

possibilities:
- faulty isolating valve
- kinked mixer tail
- blocked cartridge (some cartridges have strainer in them and might get blocked, but most of them doesn't)
to check the cartridge best way is to swap cold & hot supply beneath the basin (if on flexi tail)

Thank you, someone had said the cartridge and upon looking at YouTube videos it seems as though they are located within the tap. Would that be right?

These links might not work, so please tell me if they don't

- this is the tap in the ensuite - the hot water in the shower is fine in here.
- this is the hot water from the sink tap in the bathroom - as you can see it is running pretty fine.
- this is the bath tap in the same room as the above only you can see the difference.

So, I have two hot taps running slower than the one.

If there are any issues with these please let me know and I will try something else.

asking for requesting access to your files can't see it :(

I have tried to screenshot pictures and upload them but it didn't work. The links below should be working for all now.

I do have one question regarding the cartridges.

I can understand where the bathroom bath tap with two handles can have the hot water running slower than the cold because I think there are separate cartridges. However, how does it work in the ensuite hot tap where there is one handle yet it is still a mixer?

I will get that when I get back home.

The pipework under the round single mixer tap hasn't been changed since we moved in. The pipework under the sink for the square single mixer tap has. That was changed last year.

1. If the two tap sets with slow running hot became defective at (roughly) the same time, this would suggest to me that the fault is not with the taps.
2. What sort of hot water system do you have? Combi boiler, vented hot water system (will have cold water storage cistern in loft), unvented hot water system. With a vented hot water system you could have an airlock in some of the pipework. Less likely with a combi or unvented system as these provide hot water at mains pressure.
3. Where you have separate taps there will be one cartridge for each of hot and cold.
4. Where you have a combined hot and cold tap, there will be a mixing cartridge within the tap which has inlets for hot and cold and an outlet for mixed. Will probably look like Screwfix item 6086X.

Ok, I can only get a picture of the round mixer tap pipework as I am unable to get under the bath without making a mess of the bath panel.PXL_20240513_125100744.jpg PXL_20240513_125137588.jpg

1. What would you say is the issue then given that three out of five hot taps in the house are working fine?

2. I'm pretty sure it's an invented system. I have a boiler downstairs, a large water tank in a cupboard upstairs along with two smaller vessels/tanks.

I just find it odd how two of them simply don't flow like any of the others???

1. My first suspicion would be an airlock.
2. A picture of the "... two smaller vessels/tanks ..." would be useful.

That'll be the shoddy builders. Honestly, I've been here for 12 years and bought from new and I'm still finding things wrong
