Do you think it was based on Bright-spark and his wife pmsl?
 
I would, but the wife hates all stuff like that (reasons I can’t divulge) same with only fools and horses, British comedy at it’s best imo. Used to watch it years ago when I was living at home
 
To add to this, many years ago I went to a holiday chalet place for a break,the manageress was a spitting image of Sybil, though I was seeing things but no she was the exact double of her, you can imagine the leg pulling that went on.
 
I once stayed in a hotel in Pitlochry, the owners were extremely well trained by Basil and Sybil!


A few years ago, I was told from a vey reliable souce that you would never see Fawlty Towers or other JC comedies on an aircraft becasue Cleese would not give approval as he never wanted to see himself!

I don't think anyone should watch GB News but Cleese was the less offensive than most, still, any comedian that needs to resort to that is obviously not funny enough to cut it in the real world.
