   I am replacing the skirting in my 1890's house. These skirts were fixed to chocks of wood hammered into the gaps between the bricks.
   
   Should I go with this method when fixing the new skirting - which is pretty labour-intensive!
   
   OR... is there a better (more up-to-date perhaps) method I could employ?
   
   Any advice greatly appreciated
