I'm after some advice. I'm creating a drop ceiling over a kitchen island that need to house the extractor unit. Instructions say not to mount directly into plasterboard and should have a suitable substructure to support the unit.......I have metal studding to creat the drop ceiling, what should I do to suppprt the extractor? Thanks, Ant
Screw 18mm ply in between the metal ceiling tracks or a couple of pieces of 4x1 timber side by side to act as noggins, then screw the extractor unit to these once the ceiling is up.
18mm ply is good shout.....could screw that to frame across full size of island, then scre plasterboad too it. cheers
Jord86 has got it spot on. If the ceiling has yet to be constructed, it's a no brainer really. 18mm ply is best because it gives you scope to be a few mm's out and the option to drill the hole for ducting where you need to.
