Hi, i have a garage consumer unit fitted in a garden shed, there is a double socket coming off it, if i plug my drill into the socket it does not work, the sockets are live and there is power going in to my drill, there is nothing wrong with my drill as it works from the sockets in my house, where could the problem be?

    Maybe loose neutral?

    Is there RCD protection?

When you say there is power going to my drill I presume you are using a volt pen to confirm this. This just means the brown wire is live to the drill. If so it must be a loose neutral as suggested. It could be in the consumer unit, socket or plug top.

You really need a competent person to check for voltage across L-N with a multimeter or voltage tester.
