Hi all, Newbie here…to forum and construction! Looking for some advice to build on what I’ve read so far, I’m wanting to build a soundproofed room within my detached, single skin garage. My plan so far is to build stud walls along the back wall and side walls using the current ceiling joists as the head plate, leaving a gap between the wall and the bare brick. At the front I want to keep the existing up and over door for access to general storage and give access above the new room to the loft space which will require the building of a stud wall with an internal door. My main question is what kind of damp/moisture treatment may be required given there will still be untreated walls, up and over door and loft space with a stud wall ‘box’ screwed into the remaining garage space? I will be using the space as a beginners workshop. Any information for this novice would be massively appreciated.
