Our gas boiler is old & needs replacing. Recently we have had a leaflet from our energy supplier...SSE offering £400 off. Obviously I will get several quotes from local firms, but are there any snags to this offer? It seems too good to be true.
Malkie have a look round, depending on your circumstances you might get a free one, if not there are still deals about, google for more info, all these ' scappage' schemes and '£ssssss off are scams, look for a free one first , then think about paying but like Deleted member 11267 says unless its gov't backed £400 off will be £400 pre loaded,
Firstly, you'll have to find a supplier that is in the scheme. Next, you'll need to get an energy survey done, which will cost you £150 upwards . . . or, the supplier might offer to do it 'free'. Next, you'll get told that the Government funds are running short, but you still could be 'lucky' to qualify for a 'great deal'. Next, you wait. Next, you'll get a phone call offering you a 'discount' off a hugely inflated price . . . like £400 off £2,500, which means you 'only' have £2,100 to pay. Next, you'll get told that you actually could pay 'nothing', as the money can be added quarterly to your gas bill. etc. etc. All a scam. You will not get told about the interest rate or that the debt remains with the property. If you ever sell the property, you will have to convince the buyer to take on your debt!! AVOID.
Malkie, the only thing that matters is the final £igure at the bottom of the page. (Assuming you are comparing like for like...) By all means get a quote from them, but ignore all the pages of rubbish and chust look at what it'll actually cost you.
Mate will you stop resurrecting posts from 2015, this is the third ive read through and they are no longer relevant.
