Evenin m8 how we doing?...thing is I am in the middle of a job and after banging a rod in I got an Ra of 300 ohms! everything checked out, heres me thinking,I cant keep banging loads of rods in this guys garden or else its gonna end up looking like the Avebury stone circles!!

Saying that though, with that reading and a bit of Maths gives me...Ra*I^n < 50 V so 300*.100=30 so to me it complies.

Would be nice to get it down it bit more!

Be carefull with your readings as the guidence note 3 inspection and testing states that any thing over 200 ohms should be classed as unstable try putting in parralel earth rods but not to close to each other

    Sorted it!

The connection on top of the earth clamp was the prob...:( Gave it a real hefty tighten-up and we now got a satisfactory 37 ohms, bit weird I know!

Just had my Robin callibrated and tested my own Ze (.08)

Many thanks all for the input though all,

...try putting in parralel earth rods but not to close to each other

But not too far apart either, lest a nearby lightning strike sets up a significant PD between the two?
