Gis a job??.... 18yo passed ACS & Level 2 gas & plumbing Full licence

Thanks again Tom and I will not let you down.

Palavaman I know some youngsters are unreliable but I know many older people who are also but we cannot tar everyone with the same brush. I will be where and when required on time for Tom, I have never had a hangover as I do not drink.

Think positive my dad has always told me and steer clear of negative thoughts and views...please don't turn this post negative mate. Next week if I need knocking then fine but not before I have had a chance, thanks mate.

The daily rate is unimportant to me really as I need experience whether it be a couple of days or a couple of weeks it is all going to be valuable experience. We learn lots of safety etc etc in the classroom and read lots of books etc and obviously do practicals but I have not had much experience with a "real" plumber and this is great for me....by the way how do you know how much the rentboys charge???

Well for a scouser to not make a spelling mistake you're probably already in the top 5% lol! Seriously, good luck to ya and I hope your experience next week turns out well, Tom might even decide you're better than his regular 'boy'!
For longer term gas experience you may have to work for nothing with a gas fitter, thats what I did for 6 months. Write a nice letter (with no spelling mistakes) highlighting what you've done and the investment you've made in yourself and then copy it many times. Send these all off to as many gas fitters as you can find on the net or Yellow Pages. If you feel confident, ring a few up and outline your plans and ask whether they need a helper to get your portfolio. Plan roughly what you're gonna say before you ring as u don't want to start spluttering and hesitating on the phone. You'll get a lotof NO's but you might just get a YES, I did. If they think you can contribute with your plumbing skills they may just be prepared to spend some time with you showing you whats what. Good luck!

Good luck to you Jordan, if your'e as sensible & enthusiastic as you come across on this forum then you'll succeed in this industry, especially as you have already got all your qualifications in the bag.
As Elvis has already said it's also very refreshing to see a youngster that can spell properly.
Well done to Tom as well for giving the lad a little bit of work.

how will you recognise tom, i reckon there will be a half bottle of vodka in his back pocket, bottle of irn bru in jacket and carrying a copy of the racing times!! please ensure that with your manometer you carry a spare fallopian tube. i was always told not to go with strangers, hope we dont read about you in the papers next week. good luck

Jordan m8, don't for one minute think I'm knocking you down. As copper & others have said, uv done exceedingly well so far! If anything, see my misconceptions (as to wether u'll wake up in time to make it to Wigan as a challenge. I've been let down by the so call apprentice who turns up late, thus delaying a job.

If you had read OPs from others in ur position on here, then I'll realise that Tom is top dog for giving you the chance he is giving u. Others get nothing but abuse. So I'm just saying I hope you don't let urself & other prospective apprentices who might come through this same route down. PERIOD.

Copper, I wasn't trying to knock the lad down, honest. You know for urself how much abuse is dished out here to those who have posted similar requests for assistance. I just want Tom to come on here next wk & say the lad did great. So, I'm trying to keep him awake. He just have to think of my ''negetive'' post, & that should spur him on to prove me wrong:p. We are still waiting Jordan:^O

Thank you all for your encouragement.

Palavaman I haven't looked at other posts here before mine, to be honest I have not been on the forum before yesterday. I understand what you mean and I wil take it as you meant it and make sure I don't let anybody down. I didn't realise others had a hard time doing similar to me, I only seem to have attracted one plonker but so used to it on facebook and other forums etc so it will give us a bit of a laugh eh **** Bummer sounds more appropriate...hehehe

**** Bummer, I don't have my own manometer mate, when you leave them there rent boys alone maybe you could become my manometer to keep me safe....maybe NOT!!!!

Apologies also for the "correct spelling" all the time...I do suffer with dyslexia and I have my younger brother, my mum or dad to help me and I also use the spellchecker....so I try but to be honest on my own it is tough....takes a long time to post to get it right.

ha ha, no need to worry about spellin with me J. anyone on here 'll tell you i get 2/10 for spellin.
if you hav't before J. go to my youyube channel, search 'toms top tips' somewhere on there you'll see my van too, it;ll help you find me on tuesday, p.s its the green one (there are 2 vans)

well done tomplum ,about time some of us helped our young lads out .At least this lad has grafted and got his ticket ,good on you tomplum ,and you to jordan ,bill

I hope the young 'un turns out good. Win win as they say.
Bet you Tom weighs him on arrival and departure to check nothings going back to Liverpool that shouldn't.
£20 plus two big juicy gravy filled meat pies a day - and a chance to learn from the 'master' plumber.
Not all woollybacks would give a scouser a chance you know. In the old days you didn't need to go to a supermarket. You could stay in the pub, there was always a scouser coming round in a van selling cheap bacon, eggs, steak, the lot. Set your knocked off watch by him.

Thanks Tom

I did manage to get to Wigan on time for 9am today and met Tom. Worked today and can see how I can learn so much more on site as opposed to the college.

Hope more opportunities come up, I am with Tom this week and any other offers of help greatfully appreciated.

Thanks again Tom.

Jordan

Well done young Jordan, you are learning from a pro so you will learn a lot. Well done Tom!

yea we started a combi conversion today and things are goin well, he's keen to help and pays full attention, so any of you scouse plumbers need a lift after this week, get in touch :)

A lot of kids can't be bothered to look for work, they think it will come to them.

Congratulations Jordan, you set a great example!

Well done to Tom for giving you a chance as well.

This is a good post and look forward to hear the updates as the week goes by. Don't let us down Jordan, its people like you that can show some of the oldies on here there are people who want to learn, good luck.

I am just a tad worried what a bright, socially connected, street wise, y gen, internet savvy young lad might teach ole Tom..........:-)

"Fantastic job guys but why is my boiler casing covered in meat and gravy?
