I'm just about to glaze the upper half of a stable door with bevelled panels (9 off), and don't know if the bevel goes to the inside or outside.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

The trouble with any advice from T482 or any of his other pseudonyms is that they are more likely to be wrong than right. Whether you think this is down to incompetence or malevolence is up to you.

I wasn't saying he was wrong in this case, and he's not, it's just that he is wrong so often, sometimes deliberatly so, that it is pointless reading his answers because without knowing the correct answer you can't tell and if you knew the answer there would be no point asking the question. The subject, a bit like T482's existence on this forum, is pointless.

I was just going off my french doors, which I didn't fit, and the bevel is on the outside.

bevells have always gone on the inside, same principle as obscured glass, easier kept clean.

Some **** fitted my glass the wrong way round then.It does not surprise me. When we moved in we couldn't turn the lounge light off, when I metered it out it was live to both sides of the switch. We bought it off a builder who lived there.

  10. As Sammy Toaster says bevel to the inside, easier to keep clean

If it's on the outside it's the window cleaners job, if it's on the inside it's the wife's. ;)

No. Patterns go on the outside.

Light shines in from outside, so you can see the pattern inside.

Other way about and you would not see the pattern outside.

must disagree andy, the textured or patterned side of glass always goes on the inside, anyway the horse has probably bolted by now.

    rough side inside single glazing

DG unit.... anyway ,pattern can go inside or outside
K/guardian glass can go in or out in bogs /bathrooms and landings

Thats the answer from my last inspector !!

K glass must be fitted with the coating on the inner surface, or it will not function as efficiently as it should.

As the bog /bathroom /landing... are non habitual the unit CAN be fitted either way

When the pattern is on the outside, light is deflected in all directions, making it more difficult to see in, even when a light is on indoors.

The same is not true when the pattern is on the inside.

Put your hand on an obscured double-glazed unit. Look at it from the other side.

Now do the same with the flat pane and look at it from the obscured side.

You will see that the hand on the flat plane will be LESS seen.

The obscurity is there to keep people from seeing IN.

must have a little dig biffo, "double glazing anyway" , even with sealed units the patterned or textured side is to the inside of the building.
