Grip Fill smell still lingering after more than a year

Hi All,

First post here.

My house was cheaply constructed in the 70s using paramount board for internal walls (two bits of plasterboard sandwiched with cardboard lattice in between) which has no studs.

After considering a few options for hanging kitchen cupboards, an experienced handyman friend suggested grip filling plywood to the wall. We used around three tubes of the stuff for one small wall plus I used an angle bracket which I attached to the ceiling joist. Those cupboards screwed to the plywood aren’t going anywhere!

We did this back in Aug 2019. When I go out for a few hours and return, almost 2 years on I can still smell the whiff of the Grip fill which fills the house. It’s not particularly strong, but noticeable.

The strange thing is, the wall is now painted and was sealed with caulk so there isn’t anywhere I can think of where the smell could escape.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same? Does the smell ever go away or will it be here forever?

Thanks

Luke.
