Gurgling drainage

Our downstairs shower room has a toilet, sink and shower. Recently it started giving gurgling noise from the draining hole of the shower.

It also gurgles when toilet is flushed. The toilet when flushed, it fills water, and waits for a few seconds, and then drains. When it drains, the shower drain hole makes loud gurgling noise and also the drain hole cover flies out.

What could be wrong, and how to deal with this problem?

Check for obstruction first, lift manhole cover and see if that may be blocked.

I don't know where the manhole cover is located. Would it be outside of the house? There is not anything looking like manhole cover inside or around the house.

If you cannot locate the manhole a drain buster/cleaner from B&Q or other DIY outlet may do the job. The toilet filling indicates a blockage, the manhole would be outside. You may have to call out a drain company to clear the obstruction.

This had happened a few year ago too, and it was next door neighbor at the time.
It was exactly same situation with gurgling drainage.
A few days later next door came around, and she told us that her daughter put tampon in their toilet, which blocked the pipe somewhere.
She asked if we having any problems with drainage, and we said yes, and she said they are calling plumber to sort it out, and apologised.
And when they came out, and unblocked the pipe, the problem disappeared like magic.
We never put anything like that into toilet - we know it because it is only ever me and my wife in the whole house, and are extremely careful on these things not to put wrong things into sink or toilet at all times.

We were talking about it tonight, and were saying that maybe them again put something in their toilet causing this problem again? We don't know at this moment and time.

It started smelling bad from the drainage in the shower, still gurgling.

We went to Morrisons, and bought a bottle of Mr Muscle unblocking liquid, and poured into the drainage the whole lot.
Will leave it overnight, and see what will happen.

The Mr Muscle unblocking agent, must have cleared the bad smell from the drainage.
Today there is no bad smell at all. But still the gurgling continues.
  9. Are you on good terms with your neighbour? If so, call round and ask what they asked you a few ago - do you have any problems with your drains?!

It might be 'yes' in which case chances are it was something they've done again, or if 'no' then ask them what plumber they used - always good to use someone who's familiar with the setup you have.

Since there's clearly a shared element in the drains betwixt you and your neighb, they might even offer to go halves...

And 3 days later, the gurgling noise disappeared, and all seems well gone back to normal.
We didn't have to go and talk to the neighbor either.

Thank you for all your advice and information and comments.
