guttering

    hi
    I am abpout to put up some guttering round a summer house and a fall pipe into a water butt anything i should watch out for

    no its easy. gradient of 1mm for every 600mm, clip every metre (maximum). make sure you cut gutter to expansion line, not the stops, or it'll buckle n bow when its hot. over shoot the ends by 50mm and thats about it.

    i take your not a time served plumber.

    4mm fall every metre
    12mm over a 3m length.

    kiss my bender fool. damn straight im time served, and i'm quoting figures etched into my brain from my college days, incidentally , where I was top boy.these figures have served me well ever since and have never had a call back to guttering jobs. ever.

    Go Screwfix yourself. You assume too much, and know too little. The gradient you prescribe was fine when installing asbestos and cast due to the greater frictional resistance, I would imagine , although I'd have to defer to you on that, grandpa, as I wasn't around prior to the Great War. However, I commend you on evidently having made the leap from Imperial to Metric, ol'Timer.

    Why is everyone trying to make gutters sound so technical?!

    Hell, if the water runs down the hole and into the drain it's sorted,gradiants my ****!!!!

    Hell, if the water runs down the hole and into the drain it's sorted,gradiants my ****!!!!

    and if the water doesn't run down the hole and into the drain, and spills over the side of the gutter, and grows moss etc etc.........you haven't put the correct gradient on.. ;)
