We've moved into a house with a custom built hand painted kitchen already installed (approx 4 years ago). We want to extend the kitchen & add to the kitchen units already in. However we will have to paint the existing untis to match up with the new ones. The kitchen supplier says that the existing units would have to be taken out and sprayed in their factory. Do you know if you can get people in to spray finish units, or is this our only option?

    Hi Bathroomsrus,

I have used Dulux Satinwood on kitchen doors with great success. Take the doors off and lay them on a flat surface, also make sure you buy a good quality fine bristle brush.

    Hope that helps

if the originals were sprayed hand painting will never match exactly. spraying is possible on site but there will be loads of over spray

Another option would be to re-paint the existing as well as the new kitchen units then they would match each other (you could also change colour if you wanted to). Be sure to use a malamine primer first on the new units that need it. I've used eggshell paint applied with a mini gloss roller (use a 1" or 1/2" brush on the mouldings) with fantastic results!
