Hanging a wall mounted boiler on plasterboard walls.

Are plasterboard brolleys enough for the weight of the average boiler? Looking at fitting a boiler on flimsy cupboard wall but wondering of its loadbearing limits.

no, you will have to support the boiler by fixing some inch plywood behind the plasterboard,

Not a diyer. Service and breakdown engineer with little installation experiance. Fitted the odd combi in the past but thats it.

You will find tomplum gave you the answer. With regards to new builds you will find supports have been put in behind the plasterboard (should be a non combustible material) to support the boiler. However when I am faced with this dilemma of not having a strong enough wall to fit the boiler I use wood supports and fire board over the supports. Building regs will state the wall must be strong enough to support the weight of a boiler there is no way any type of plaster board fixing will do that.

thanks for the info. what do you use to attach the wood to the wall. Normal rawl plugs or brolleys? Several going down in a line? Sorry to ask what seems like the obvious. Thanks

You would fix a back board to the studs or if it's dot'n'dab fix through the gyproc into the block/brick behind that.

Lots of boilers can be fixed directly onto gyproc(with adequate support with dwangs/noggins behind). Consult the boiler MI.

You seem sadly lacking Construction Skills, perhaps it would be wiser to get a Joiner to provide some fixings for you. Are you a CC or CCC???

Did day release for a year with a local company whilst still serving in the millitary. They then took me on and I did my ACS 3 years ago so yes I am. And yes I am lacking in construction skills. Thanks for you help.
