    Hello Everyone,

I was doing my routine hob cleaning, (NEFF Ceran Schott) as soon as I attempted to lift one of the knobs to clean underneath (so my gf wouldn't have a go at me) the hob fuse in the main control tripped. I tried to lift the fuse switch twice but it failed straight away both times. RCD switch stays fine, but hob fuse switch doesn't wanna reset.

I've gone through some forums and videos, I'd like to hear some thoughts first before I decide to do something.
    What this would be?

    Cheers in advance to everyone

I assume you mean the mcb in consumer unit (fuse box) will not reset. Some types have to be switched fully OFF/down and then switched back ON/up

Seems you might have problem with the hob switch

I've added a photo, this is how it looks right now,
as soon as I switch on/up the hob fuse , it goes down straight away.

I've tried this 2 times and didn't wanna try further without some advice.

When you levered that switch knob off it might have damaged something inside the switch.

Does the hob have an isolator switch? If so, turn it off and see if the fault is still there.

The RCD will not trip, because the hob circuit is not protected by the RCD.

So, have the damaged the hob trying to lift the hob or got water into it trying to clean it.

Stop trying to turn the hob back on at the MCB, you may end up with one hell of a big flash and a bang.

so I guess I caused a short circuit and it's time to have this replaced with a new one :(

Possibly, or get an electrician that specialises in domestic appliance repairs.
