My hot water cylinder appears to be only giving me a small amount of hot water and not at the normal temp. The clock to switch on the thermostat/element appears to turn its self off even though the tank is not full. Is this: 1)a faulty element needing to be changed 2)A thermostat requiring changing. The hot water cylinder is heated up by the element as there is no boiler in the property. If I need a replacement cylinder as well is this indirect or direct hot water system. Thank you all in advance for your responses. Jacobite
probably the element, only about £12 http://www.screwfix.com/prods/40815/Plumbing/Hot-Water-Cylinders/Resettable-Immersion-Heater-27;jsessionid=Q41W4D33QUYEWCSTHZOSFFI
''turn itself off even though the tank is not full'' How do you know the tank is not full? BTW, the tank should be full all the time! Be it of cold or hot water. If it's not full, then your float valve is faulty. I'd say check to ensure the CWSC is full as required.

More likely the stat than element I'd say..... At least I replace 3 broken stats for each broken element. Get a decent plumber, though could be anything from 20 mins to 2 hours to fix!
