hello everyone hotpoint ACO 654 NE induction hob. information provided by hotpoint says 7.4kW -32.2 Amps Just wondering if 6mm cable will be enough or should i go for 10mm. distance from consumer unit to hob is around 2 meters. from cooker to cooker isolator then to terminal should i use 40amps mcb?? thank you for answers
6mm t/e with 32 amp MCB will be fine. If the circuit / cable hasn't yet been installed there is nothing to stop you using 10 mm ,in case it may be required at some point in the future .
Thank you Just thinking if mcb 32amps will be enough , when hob will be running for lets say couple hours with all 4 zones switched to maximum power . If would buy cooker isolator with extra power socket , is 6mm cable still enough ?
Yes its fine . As all elements are not at full power simultaneously for any appreciable time ,cutting in and out. Your hob will not draw 32 amps.
Jumping on this thread since it’s not too old! My induction hob is a similar rating and has 6mm T&E to the switch, I was planning to use 6mm T&E to the unit itself but the manufacturer states it must be heat resistant flex. Can anyone recommend something suitable? I can only seem to find 2.5mm max.
That link doesn’t seem to work, is this suitable? https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/pro...ber-flexible-cable-cut-length-sold-by-the-mtr
