Hi I have a house in Ireland, close to completion The builders asked regarding window sills I have triple glaze windows and the question they ask is Do I want ............. PVC Window sills or wooden (e.g red deal and paint whatever color I want..) Any ides anyone what is better Sills in Kitchen and Bathroom tiles (so no issue there) Many THANKS for any info
Personally, I like wood. But PVC is easier to maintain as it doesn't require painting. Depends on what your priority is really.
Nicer appearance with regular maintenance vs a small cosmetic compromise and lazy afternoons. On the plus side, it doesn't rain much over your way... Since your actual windows are PVC (I presume they are?), then I know I'd personally stick with that all round.
Cill boards you mean. Painted MDF would be nicer than PVC. you'll be painting the walls and skirtings the etc anyway
Martin, do you mean the INSIDE cills?! If so, timber - even MDF - every time. PVC looks hellish in that location.
Yup. PVC window boards look really 'cheap' and tacky imo. Also the edges and corners and any joins look hellish. If you are going to have it painted, I'd go for MDF rather than timber. More stable, and smoother finish etc. And looks like wood once painted
