    Hi Guy's,

I live in a Three bed mid Terrace house and I need a complete rewire. Can you tell me roughly how much it is likely to cost from an electrician with all the necessary certificates. by the way what Certificates should i be looking for?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi gillie

pointless saying the price as some dork always comes in ridiculously low...no offence to you....get three quotes

The certificates you require are the BS7671: inspection and testing certificates and consist of

    Electrical Installation Certificate
    Schedule of Test Results

Most good electricians will do this anyway.

One is NOT valid without the other so make sure you get both

incase you meant qualification certificates it is generally accepted that City and Guilds 236 Part 2 is a minimum standard of competence...ask to see this (not a photocopy) if you are unsure..also if you want try NICEIC approved and also get confirmation or ECA approved

PS - Gillie - you probably should in all fairness to the electricians point out that the cable they will be removing will be slimy and smelly.

Its always good to get a recommendation from some one who has had work carried out by an electrician, most good electricians rely on this method of getting work.
