IMG_5470.jpeg We are currently almost three weeks into a standard kitchen install. Which has been beset by bad communication and mishaps. Thankfully we are not living in the house! I just had to check a few things with them as two of the appliances installed aren’t the make that was stated in the quote.
so what’s in a quote? We have a drawing of the final layout. Measurements of cupboards. But no itemisation. Literally final price. Deposit price. We’ve no idea what’s standard (recently returned to Uk after 20 years abroad)
    TIA

You pic shows a rough hand drawn draft layout and a list of units in form of dimensions. It does seem to mention AIG appliances (could that be AEG?).
you should have been given a full printed list of every single item, that has both a stock code and a description that you can compare against a catalogue that has even more details. Usually the Terms and conditions are printed on the back or an extra pages. Often these are on multipart pages so you can give copies to your installers so they can check off delivery.

some of the bigger companies will translate the draft into a CAD drawing, along with a computer generated view of how the final design might look like. Both Magnet and Howdens offer this for free.

on appliances - often T&C may have the words “of similar quality” which means companies can substitute although this is rare and they should offer you the chance to cancel.

issues. As for fitting, not unusual for small changes in layout, as no measurement is accurate enough during design stage. A skilled fitter will make these adjustments so the end results look good.

Thank you so much for your very helpful reply. It is indeed AEG. On having a look it’s a hot point fridge and freezer they’ve installed. Which hasn’t gone to plan as we can’t open the icebox as it bangs off the interior shelves. Shelves fitted where it should be a carousel amongst other issues also. I’m ok be back on the blower then!

AEG is part of Electrolux group. Hotpoint is part of Whirlpool. Roughly similar in quality, but you should have been supplied with what was ordered. If it’s built in (integrated) type, they probably assumed you would not notice.

No excuses for I’ll fitting although I can’t understand why the ice box is fouling the shelves. The whole interior of a fridge/freezer is factory assembled and the fitter only locates it in position and fits the door (if it’s built in integrated)

carousel - replaced with shelf - not acceptable at all.

I’m bad at describing! But basically when you open the fridge as far as it goes (it’s stopped by work surface) you then can’t open the icebox as it just hits off the door shelves.

That’s poor design ! Something we see on this forum periodically. This is where computer aided design helps as door sweep etc are part of the data set for each item.

complain as you are already doing. Approach the head of the company and raise a formal complaint if they have a system for that. If they measured, designed supplied and fitted they have no excuses.
