I want to plant a Victorian style lighting column in a niche at the bottom of my garden Mr K. My original plan was to use caged bottled gas and the associated gas mantle fittings etc ..however if I can emulate gas with a Led mantle this would be far superior - what I have to find out now is if any companies in England supply that type of thing. The thing is that it must slightly flicker, and also color rendition is of paramount importance.
Not a good idea flickeing led, seen a led mantle lamp that flickered, it looked terrible, later ones better. http://www.houzz.com/discussions/975174/led-gas-glow-lamps Simflame was one, other name eludes me. And LED Feeling's Flame lamp. http://electric-candle.com/ledfeelingsflamebulb.aspx
I will check up - never thought of Led candles although I do have some in my front room - interestingly enough I keep them on static as the flicker effect is not to good - I note that Mr K has also seen these, (or something in the same ilk) and he didn't think they were very good either in flicker mode. Thanks Leo Leo.
The only one I found I like are the Simflame version, link posted earlier, again difficult to source here in the UK. Had some other make & the flicker effect gave me a headache, outside, might not be an issue. But, I still think the Gas Glow LED's would be perfect for your lamp.
Kind of bored with this sort of clips now... http://www.scotsman.com/news/rebecca-pagan-why-we-should-see-the-light-on-led-bulbs-1-4110322
Here is a very good post from Which.co.uk http://www.which.co.uk/news/2016/05/poundland-launches-new-led-light-bulbs-440702/
Yes. But, I also use Cool White GU10 in track fitting over my workbench, as does sister over her craft work area.
