how-to get rid of mould when re-applying silicon or grout

Hi there,

For me, periodically the following issue occurs, every year same story, regardless of sanitized silicon brand it gets a black mould. I have to remove it and re-apply new silicone between tiles and bathtub.

Anyone who knows the best practice in this case, please advise.

I've just removed it again, thinking to spray a vinegar and try to clear it as much as possible.
After, maybe better grout between tiles and bathtub instead of silicone ?

Thank you everyone in advance.

Grout would crack along the joint. If you Carefully cut it away and clean everything up with a non scratch nylon pad and wipe down with some meths or white spirit it will be ready to redo ( when completely dry). You may have longer term success if you apply the silicone using a profile tool and lay down a small chamfered bead so water won't sit on it. Screwfix sell the tools I think.

Tissue paper soaked in bleach laid onto the silicone should bring it up like new. Leave it on for as long as possible - overnight for instance.
