Hi, I have a Pillar drill where I want to change the chuck arbor. My problem is the shaft does not have the slot for the removal wedge as expected in every youtube video telling me how easy it is! Also the shaft is not hollow from the top where the slave pully is attached. Does anyone have any ideas how to remove the arbor?

Without a photo I am guessing but, if you wind the shaft down a little as you would if using a drift does it reveal a thin gap at the top where a piece of plate metal can be used to pry the chuck out when the shaft is wound back up.
That is a terrible description but cant think of a better one.
