OMG have I gone crazy, I have convinced myself that I can save money on my epic European motorcycle trip by doing a spot of camping and not in Hotels each evening. Anyone got any tips as never camped out in my life. I have bought a wigwam type tent as it looked easy to put up and have a sleeping bag. What else should I buy? I want to look great and obviously I look great in general. So any tips from experienced campers would be appreciated.

I am doing NC 500 next week on my bike.
Cooking equipment, sleeping bag, roll mat, mosquito spray, puncture repair kit.

I did the NC500 last year, stayed in b&Bs and hotels and it cost over £900 for the week. Thats why I am thinking cut the bill in half at least on a 5 week trip by camping

I'm quite an experienced camper in a sense, I used to take a trip each year to camp on top of a different mountain, for that you need very light kit and a keen eye on the weather but the morning step out is pretty inspiring.

If you are camping next to your transport all you need is a tent, sleeping bag and a decent mat, campsites have toilets and showers and can usually fit a one man tent in, only thing I would add is a good pillow.

Make sure the sleeping bag is a decent one, a good nights sleep is important, I always bought a back packers sleeping bag they are lighter and pack down smaller than a camping sleeping bag plus a liner (the liner is important easy to wash and dries very fast), it shouldn't be very cold so a lighter weight bag should be ok make sure its water proof.

And if you want real luxury a sleeping mat.

I never bothered with a tent just a waterproof sleeping bag cover, a small gas ring and a decent billy can for coffee and a spoon for any food you may want to cook yourself, a multi tool penknife is very handy along with a small torch and a long waterproof Poncho.
I had to carry what I took and did many trips so had it down to a serious minimum, not so bad if you have wheels.

I hardly dare answer to you Alan as I am afraid you come up with some weird animal that I need to avoid which are attracted to tents

Any recommendations for the sleeping bag and a liner? Not too sure what a liner is

Have the chicken evicters not refurbed my caravan round your place yet, you could borrow that after doing a check on wellwishers fusebox installation.
